The new airline, "Qazaq Air" JSC, was presented in Astana International Airport on 6 July 2015.
During the presentation the first aircraft of the airline's fleet, a twin-engine turboprop regional airliner Bombardier Q400 NextGen, was demonstrated to public, which had operated the demo flight from Almaty to Astana.
In the press conference the top management of "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund" JSC and "Qazaq Air" JSC shared the development plans of the airline with the public.
Umirzak Shukeev, the Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund" JSC, stated that the route network of the airline will consist of 12 routes, 8 of which have not been served before. “From day one of operations there will be air links between the regions, which in turn will give impetus to economic growth of the regions. The population of Kazakhstan will be able to take the full advantage of regional air services. Thus we fulfil all requirements of creating a new airline, as we were tasked by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev”, he said.
Blair Pollock, Project Director of "Qazaq Air" JSC, stated that the most modern turboprop fleet of aircraft was selected by the airline. “Bombardier Q400 aircraft is efficient for operating short distance flights, and our airline will benefit from the aircraft’s excellent operating costs. Bombardier Q400 aircraft is tough enough to land on unpaved runways, and has proven its reliability in regions with cold (-54 centigrade) and hot temperatures (+ 50 degrees). In other words, these aircraft are just ideal for the Kazakh market”, he said.
Blair Pollock explained the meaning of the corporate logo: “Following the theme “Connections of Kazakhstan” we created a logo in the form of 14 circles representing 14 regions of Kazakhstan”, he said.
