On November 7, VIETJET QAZAQSTAN (QAZAQ AIR) launched a new direct international route between Astana and Samarkand.
The opening ceremony took place at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport with the participation of Yousif Aljawder, Chairman of the Board of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, Adilbek Umraliev, Chairman of the Board of QAZAQ AIR, as well as the first passengers and partners of the airline.
The new route strengthens air connectivity between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and opens new opportunities for business and tourism travel. The direct flight makes trips to one of Central Asia’s oldest and most historic cities even more convenient for residents and guests of the Kazakh capital.
“For the first time in our modern history, a direct flight between Astana and Samarkand has been launched. The route last operated during the Soviet era. Now, the Astana–Samarkand direct flight brings the two cities closer together, connecting their history and traditions,” said Adilbek Umraliev, Chairman of the Board of QAZAQ AIR.
Passengers and guests of the inaugural flight received gifts from partners, and a raffle for a free Astana–Samarkand ticket was held during the event.
Flights operate twice a week — on Fridays and Sundays.
Tickets are available at flyqazaq.com and through the airline’s official partners.
